Service Description: About the air quality statistics shown in the viewer · The aggregated statistics displayed in this viewer have been calculated from the air quality measurements reported annually by EU Member States together with additional meta information under the Exchange of information and data on ambient air quality (EoI) (Council Decision 97/101/EC). Additional EIONET countries also participate in the EoI at the request of EEA.· The pollutants concerned are: - sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxides of nitrogen, particulate matter and lead; - benzene and carbon monoxide; - ozone; - polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), cadmium, arsenic, nickel and mercury. - additional pollutants if measured· The following annual statistics are calculated depending on the component: - General concentration statistic: annual mean, 50, 95, 98, 99.9 percentiles, maximum and yth highest value - Exceedances: hours/days with concentration > y µg/m3 (with y = limit or threshold value) - AOT40: ozone concentrations accumulated dose over a threshold of 40 ppb - SOMO35: ozone concentrations accumulated dose over a threshold of 35 ppb (not yet included in the viewer)· Years are only shown if information is available for at least one station More information about... · EU air quality legislation is available on the DG Environment web site at http://ec.europa.eu/environment/air/quality/legislation/existing_leg.htm · The air quality statistics and the meta information shown in this viewer plus the original measurement data can be downloaded from the AirBase dataset in EEA data service: http://dataservice.eea.europa.eu/FFAA9B8F-3379-457E-A60A-6491F4447724 · AirBase and the annual EoI data collection is provided by the European Topic Centre on Air and Climate Change at: http://air-climate.eionet.europa.eu/databases/airbase · Air pollution
